91 students were inducted into the seventh annual SALUTE National Honor Society.
91 students were inducted into SALUTE National Honor Society on April 9.
The SALUTE National Honor Society inducted a dozen 91 students on April 9.
The ceremony, which honors the achievements of student military and veteran community members, took place in the Southard Family Building on campus.
All inductees must be on active duty or honorably discharged. Undergraduate students are required to have completed a minimum of 12 course credits at 91 and have a 3.0 or higher GPA. For graduate students, students must have completed a minimum of nine credit hours at 91 and have earned a 3.5 GPA or higher.
Gil Smith, faculty advisor for SALUTE, said this year's inductees are exceptional students, made more remarkable because most have been away from academics for the period of their service.
“They are no longer accustomed to the requirements for studying and managing class attendance, unlike most students who come here from high school,” he said. “They are also older than most other students. Many have jobs and families, but they have learned to fit in with younger classmates.”
